Akalis have announced Sher Singh Ghubaya as its candidate while the candidate from Congress party is yet to be announced and with this announcement, only then it could be known as to which way the wind blows. What would happen further is in the womb of future? But it is being felt that Ghubaya is having more danger from his familiars than strangers.

Whosoever may be, it applies to everyone that it is very easy to reach at the helm of affairs but too difficult to maintain that status.

Analyzing the Shiromani Akali Dal candidate announced from Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency – Sher Singh Ghubaya sitting Member of Parliament of Rai Sikh community and challenge before him is to have equation with his own familiars especially when another contender for the same seat is actively taking part in politics for the last five years.

The main opposite party is yet to announce its candidate, for which there are too many aspirants and in that context, Sher Singh Ghubaya a joint candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and BJP has no danger. But he could face the danger from his own party workers. Despite the fact, no other better candidate was available with the ruling party, the only weak point seen is that he has not been accessible to the people of the constituency which has be largest geographically are of 9 Assembly segments. During the present elections too, the Malout and Muktsar of Sri Muktsar district have also been included in Ferozepur.

To woo the voters, Ghubaya has extensively toured the entire constituency and distributed the grants, laid the foundation stones apart from holding corner and meetings at the residence of prominent persons.
The rivals blame Ghubaya for his inaccessibility when he won first time the Assembly elections in 1997 on SAD seat. Akali-BJP workers jointly worked day and night for him and he won with a record margin. In 2002, he had to do a lot of work to pursue his own party workers but has to face defeat. Unfortunately, he could enjoy only two years even after winning with a record margin of 46,000 votes and create a space for Sukhbir Badal by contesting as Lok Sabha candidate. But, despite having BJP support, he could win only with 17,000 seats only.

After entering in to the Centre politics, he became a king without crown on having direct equation with the Sukhbir Badal and confined himself around Jalalabad and forget to convey his thanks to the people of the constituency. No doubt, he has again been considered as the best joint candidate of alliance but the works of Aboahr-Fazilka are not happy over his contesting the elections. It was also in the news that there had been some differences between the two Badals with regard to giving ticket to Ghubaya. Honouring the words of his father, Sukhbir Badal has given ticket to Sher Singh Ghubaya but he has to do a lot of work himself especially when a big category of party workers are standing against him. The other main claimant for this seat was Vardev Singh popularly known as Nony Maan and it is seen that his close associate are creating a distance from him. At the same time, Akalis don’t have any other betters choice but BJP too is mum over the announcement of Ghubaya as candidate from Ferozepur rather unhappy.

In such circumstances, as to whether Sher Singh Ghubaya would be able to restore his confidence among the workers of Akalis and BJP, is a big challenging question now ?
