Need to take strict action against the leaders giving provocative statements

Jonathan Swift- was an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, political pamphleteer, poet and cleric who became Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral – had said, “Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps and hornets break through.”
The quote fits well on India law system to a great extent. There are number of laws to put a check on giving irrelevant statements which instigates the people to disturb the law and order situation in the country. But the laws are not sufficient enough and this is the reason that Supreme Court has asked the Centre Government to give suggestions for proceeding against giving the hatred speeches to create bitterness, animosity and disliking among the people.
Come elections and such provocative statements are common leveling charges and counter-charges to establish their stand in the eyes of public to create a vote bank.
The Apex court has ordered for taking action on the provocative statements on an Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the statements of Raj Thakrey in Mumbai. It is crime to give statements on the basis of caste, religion, race, community, language which divides us and hysterical spreading statements. Even the social media has been used as a tool for the purpose. Despite all this, police, courts are not in a position to stop this non-sense. Will the new suggestions and new system be in a position to help in stopping this? It is not for the first time that Thakrey, Ovesi, Togdia have committed this crime not even this that they are interfering for the first time in public life.
It is also not that such type of people could be counted on figures. It has become rituality among the politicians to adopt this attitude to play with the sentiments of people to disturb the system by creating a violent atmosphere. There are number of such faces that have left an impact on public and law makers should not waste time, when there is dire need to formulate new laws but at the same time, strong political will is needed. Those who support for giving such provocative speeches should also be made a part of crime and it is responsibility of administration besides a raising a voice against it by democratic institutions and intellectuals as well so that cobweb of law may be made which may also catch hold of big flies.
