Golden words of Uncle JRG…!!!
HARISH MONGA DIDO
Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom and it is also the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence. Nelson Mandela had rightly said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
In addition to the cash, jewellery landed property, business house, vehicles, and the most valuable property is your education which helps to earn and manage all the affairs in your life.
During my mass counselling visits to various schools and institutions, not normally rather particularly I ask everyone to improve your qualification which will definitely pay you to enjoy every comfort in life is proportionate to your qualification.  Undeniably, education gives you a great sense of achievement besides having confidence in the company of intellectuals.
I was very fond of typing on the typewriter and Pitman’s shorthand – the language of lines based on the sound which I perfect myself within three month’s period. When I joined the service on the basis of this skilled knowledge, at an early age – perhaps due to family circumstances or there was no awareness at that time for joining the college or university – I was undergraduate but when realized that I won’t be getting any promotion and better opportunity in terms of monetary and status benefit, I joined the evening college to complete my graduation.  Besides, I learned the fourth rich language in the world in terms of its literature – Urdu by joining the additional classes for six months introduced by the Language Department.  Later on, because of my aptitude for writing, one of my colleague who was posted as OSD to VC encouraged me to do PG in mass communication and surprised everyone when I passed with the first position at the age of 58 – the year of my retirement.
The other day, a senior lawyer uncle – Janak Raj Goklani – JRG – a friend of my father in morning walk club, in his 90s, still doing the practice and known for loyal not liar, met me outside the court campus in his formal black coat which gives a look of extremely elegant and powerful who are considered as one of the best-dressed professionals showing respect to the system.
Uncle JRG recognized me with my father’s name and I introduced my elder daughter – Principal in a government school.  After asking about the welfare of each other’s families, the first thing he asked my daughter – What’s your qualification? He was happy to hear double MA in Commerce and Education with a diploma in Computer Applications.  Really, sometimes the words were spoken .are golden and hardly any addition is required and the spontaneous words uttered by Lawyer Uncle were – Education qualification is your personal property which nobody can steal it and while you feel proud to be professionally qualified, you can use it anytime, anywhere in your lifetime.
Frankly speaking, the property may be destroyed and money may lose its purchasing power but your knowledge – which is your only personal property – will always be in demand under all conditions.  People have to respect intellectual property. Education is something that no one can take away from you; it’s something you have for the rest of your life.
