Clever Christmas Reunion thru’ Grey Divorce – a short story
An elderly man in Gurugram calls his son in New York and says, “Your mother and I have decided to separate. Forty-five years of this is enough!” Shocked, the son exclaims, “Dad, what are you saying?” The father continues, “We can’t bear to be around each other anymore. I don’t want to discuss it further, so call your sister in Washington and tell her,” and abruptly hangs up.
Panicked, the son immediately calls his sister to share the news. Outraged, she replies, “There’s no way this is happening!” Without delay, she rings her father and declares, “You’re not separating! Don’t do anything drastic. My brother and I are flying home tomorrow to sort this out. No lawyers, no paperwork—nothing until we get there. Do you understand?” Then she hangs up.
The old man turns to his wife with a sly grin and says, “Mission accomplished. They’re coming home for Christmas and footing their own travel bills.”
Frankly speaking sometimes grey action like divorce too works.
