Basically I am half lefty. In the medical language it is called cross-dominance, also known as mixed-handedness; hand confusion or mixed dominance is a motor skill manifestation in which a person favors one hand for some tasks and the other hand for others. For example, a cross-dominant person might write with the right hand but throw mainly with the left one.

Similar is the position in my case.  Long back, I had written a couplet – Usne Zindgi Ka Silsila Kuch Is Tarah Nibahaya, Is Baat Ka Patta Dusre Haath Ko Bhi Na Bataya – He performed the arrays of life in such a style, Did not inform to his other hand.

I write using my right hand but I do pretty much everything else with my left hand and considered as ambidextrous. Left-handed people face daily challenges that their right-handed counterparts never have to worry about. In sports, the opposite partner is always in a fix with the lefty player.

It is also said that two and a half thousand left-handed people are killed every year using things made for right-handed people despite the fact that left-handed people have a greater chance of being geniuses than right-handed people. Even August 13 is celebrated as Happy Left-Handers Day to celebrate you right to be a lefty.

Anyhow, lefties – left handed people – comprise of just about 10 percent of the word’s population but best from all fields have been lefties who look different and attractive whenever they perform anything.  Prominent among a lot more left handed United States Presidents than one would expect – James, Hoover, Truman, Ford, Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Barack Obama. There are around more than 50 famous people who are left-handed like Prince William, Lady Gage and in India too – Narendra Modi, Ratan Tata, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitab and Abhishek Bachan, Sunny Leone and Mahatma Gandhi.

Now I correlate the relations of both the hands with life when I do something with the left hand but can’t do with the right hand like eating, throwing and writing and off-course pushing and slapping. Another feature which has developed in me is that normally the wrist watch is put on the left-arm but I put on my right-arm.

It is said that around one in every 100 people is mixed-handed and it is a rare condition but this version proved wrong when once I attend the marriage party in my relations and the wedding couple was noticed at the dining table as both lefty.  I too was having the habit of eating with the left hand.  I just got up and have a round of the banquet hall with plate in my right hand. It was a surprising for me that in that marriage party there were around 14 persons eating with the left hand.

Frankly speaking, the other day, when I was sitting in the Club, a person sitting beside me complimented me in a sentence – You lefty but you writes right with right hand.
