Chess – interesting aspect which can be applied to life

HARISH MONGA

Long back, I too had interest in playing Chess.  Still sometime, when I see someone playing Chess, I stop and watch their movements.  I had long association with the blind at Home for the Blind, Ferozepur.  The other day, I witnessed playing the Chess by the visually impaired inmates on celebration of 215th Birth Anniversary of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille language, which has brought revolution among the blind community. Even one of the inmates, (Amit on the right hand in the picture) has won National Championship.

WHAT IS SAID ABOUT CHESS

About Chess much has been said like it is a game not a sport, strategy, life, kings, mistakes, patience, decision making, memory, war, intelligence. In other words, you can learn many things about from the game Chess.  While playing Chess, we can learn life lessons

LEARN VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS FROM CHESS

Playing chess can teach valuable life lessons such as strategic thinking, patience, decision-making, and the ability to anticipate and plan for future consequences. Overall, chess can help develop important skills that are applicable to various aspects of life. It also develops ability to see from someone else’s perspective.

ONE CAN LEARN FROM MOVEMENT OF CHESS PIECES

We can learn much from the movements of Chess pieces.  First thing, we learn from this game is as to how to work in cooperation to have win-win situation.  Followed by, sometimes we have to come backward to move forward in life. A pawn is considered as least priority piece as well as the strongest piece on the board but it has the power to become a queen which is the strongest piece on the Chess Board, if manage to reach the opposite end of the board. It means one with hard work can become the most priority person and can become a game-changer. So, In real life also the person having a struggling background is more powerful than that one who is inborn powerful.  We can learn from the mistake of the opponent and take advantage of it.  Not only this, o achieve the ultimate goal some time we have to sacrifice our loved one (queen).

STANDARD CHESS GAME PLAYED WITH CHESS CLOCK

Since now-a-days, the standard chess games are played with chess clock, similarly, time management is very important in life which we can learn from the game itself. You may do everything right, make accurate decisions, take the right steps but if you don’t take care of your time, you are doomed.

BEST PART OF THE GAME

The best part this game teaches us that never underestimate anyone who is weaker than you in terms of financial status, power, etcetera because even a pawn can manage to overcome all obstacles and become a queen and ultimately make their side win the game.  You always have hope and chance to save the game till your king is not checkmated.

APPLY SAME ANOLOGY IN LIFE

Now if we apply the same analogy in life, the end result only matters and not your effort. It’s the harsh truth. No matter how well you have prepared for the exam, if the result is not in your favour, it doesn’t matter.

Frankly Speaking, that’s all I could think of, if you have any other interesting aspect of chess that can be applied to life, please share with us in the comments section.
