Short Story – The Priceless ₹100 Note — A Mother’s Blessing

One day, a poor mother came rushing to the hospital with her young son, who was critically ill. Seeing her pain and helplessness, the doctor decided to treat the boy free of cost. He provided the best medicines, ran all necessary tests, and visited daily, refusing to charge even a single rupee.

Weeks later, the boy recovered fully. The mother came to meet the doctor with tears in her eyes. Quietly, from her old, worn-out purse, she took out a faded ₹100 note—creased, torn, and clearly the last she had.

With folded hands, she said: “Doctor Sahib, I have nothing valuable to give you… But this note was saved by me for my son’s future. Today you gave him back his life. Please accept it… not as money, but as a mother’s blessing.”

The doctor couldn’t hold back his tears. He accepted the note and framed it in his clinic. Underneath it, he wrote: “My most precious fee ever. A mother’s blessing.”

Even today, that torn ₹100 note hangs in his clinic—not as currency, but as a symbol of humanity, kindness, and the power of gratitude.

Frankly speaking, “Kindness may not always bring wealth, but it brings blessings richer than money. Try it by giving free services to the needy”.
