“The Last Alarm” – a short story
He lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, the silence of the night wrapping around him like a fragile cocoon. Life had been uncertain lately—too many goodbyes, too many what-ifs. Still, out of habit or perhaps stubborn faith, he reached for his phone and set the alarm for 6:30 AM. A small act, easily overlooked. But to him, it meant something deeper. It meant he believed there was a tomorrow worth waking up to.
Frankly speaking, every night when we close our eyes, there’s no guarantee we’ll ever open them again. Still, we set the alarm, plan for tomorrow, and dream of better days. That little act, as simple as it seems, is not routine—it’s hope in its purest form.
