The Weight of a Tear – a short story

The Weight of a Tear

In a quiet village, young Rishvi came across a striking poster of a teary eye, bearing the words: “The most precious liquid is a tear—1% water, 99% feelings. Think before you hurt someone.”

The message pierced her heart as she recalled the harsh words she had spoken to her brother, Ravi, earlier that day. A wave of guilt washed over her as she imagined his silent tears. That evening, determined to make amends, she approached Ravi, embraced him, and sincerely apologized for her unkindness.

Ravi smiled, forgiving her instantly. In that moment, Rishvi realized the profound weight carried by a single tear—unspoken emotions, silent sorrow, and the depth of human connection.

Frankly speaking, she vowed never to be the reason for another tear to fall.
